SELF ESTEEM PROGRAM
Our self-esteem workshops focus on building and maintaining positive feelings of self-worth in students. The workshops fall into three categories:
Staff Centered
The staff centered workshop gives teachers, administrators, and other school service personnel the tools they need to encourage students to believe that they can succeed. It teaches staff to recognize the signs of low self-esteem, as well as the things that we as educators may unwittingly do to deepen these wounds.
Student Centered
The student centered workshop gives students the tools that they need to believe in themselves. It gives students "real world" advice on how not to fall prey to peer pressure, without feeling embarrassed. Students learn to make choices that value who they are. This includes selecting friends who value them as well.
Parent Centered
The parent centered workshop empowers parents to empower their children. They learn to utilize positive techniques to encourage good behavior. Parents learn how to make room in their busy schedules for family time, and the immeasurable affect that it has on a child. Parents also learn why it is important to address their own feelings regarding self-esteem.
The self-esteem component has a direct relationship to a student’s success in the classroom. It shows itself in the academic and behavioral performance of a student.
